Sensitive University Data Disposal Policy
Sensitive information must be thoroughly sanitized before final disposal.
Paper Documents Containing Sensitive Information:
Documents should be shredded into small/fine pieces and disposed of properly.
Examples include:
- Source code
- Usernames and passwords
- IP addresses
- Contact information
- Account numbers
- Customer lists
- Intellectual property
- Employee records
- anything you do not want disclosed, etc.
Removable Media:
Employees who finish using removable media must return it to the Information Security and Communications Department for reuse or for secure erasure once the assigned tasks are completed.
