Dr. Mohammed Khalil earned his Ph.D. in Medical Physics with the sandwich structure through a UNESCO grant at the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Italy and Al-Neelain University in 2009 in the specialty of "Medical Radiology Physics," which is a branch of applied medical physics concerned with using physics principles and methods to diagnose and treat diseases. He joined Najran University in late 2009 as an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Sciences, where he primarily contributed to the department's formation at the College of Applied Medical Sciences.
He received two international scholarships for training in medical imaging physics, radiotherapy, nuclear physics, and radiation protection, one from the European Scientific Institute in France and the other from the Free University of Brussels. He also received a Georg Forster Research Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany, and he finished his postdoctoral studies at the Universities of Bremen and Oldenburg in Germany. In 2015, he registered the university's first patent with the Saudi Patent Office, titled "The Safe Method for Simulating the Detection of Radioactive Materials and Pollution using Gamma Sources."
He has also published numerous original research pieces in high-impact international scientific journals, and he is the author of five books, one of which is in Arabic and titled Fundamentals of Radiation Physics in Nuclear Medicine. He was appointed professor of medical radiation physics at Najran University in 2020.
Prof. Khalil has arbitrated numerous research articles at Saudi universities, the Ministry of Education, the King Fahd Medical City Research Center, the King Abdulaziz Medical City CAST, and numerous scientific journals. Prof DrPf. Khalil is a Babylon Academy accredited reviewer, a member of the Network of Excellence in German African Sciences (AGNES), and on the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals in India, South Africa, France, and the United States of America. Prof. Khalil is a globally acknowledged expert in the subject of medical physics, and his work has been cited by numerous scientists worldwide. In recent years, he has also worked as a consultant for the Deanship of Development and Quality at Najran University.
